Education Qualification:

1. For B. Sc. ¼Hons.½ Biotechnology, the candidates should have passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent from recognized Board/ University with any of the three subject out of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Bio-Tech., Computer Science, Biology with 50% marks or equivalent grade.
2. For M. Sc. Biotechnology, the candidates should have passed 10+2+3 pattern of Education in physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary and Fishery Science, Pharmacy, Engineering/ Technology or 4 years B.S. ¼Physician Assistant Course½ or Medicine ¼MBBS½ OR BDS from any University/ Institute recognized by the Himachal Pradesh University/ UGC with at least 55% marks for general and other categories and 50% for SC/ ST Categories.

Eligibility Condition:

1. Criteria 20% of total seats are subsidized seats and are reserved for bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh who have passed their qualifying examination from the recognized schools/ Institutes located in Himachal Pradesh. Rest of the seat are non -subsidized and will be filled up from among most H.P./ Non-H.P candidates. all seats shall, however, be filled up on the basis of Merit of marks obtained in these Entrance test.
2. Age: ¼i½ For B. Sc. ¼Hons½ Biotechnology, the candidates should not be more than 23 years in age as on 1^st July, 2009 ¼ii½ For M. Sc. ¼Biotechnology½ the upper age limit for male candidates is 26 years and for female candidates, the upper age limit is 28 years as on 1^st July, 2009

Procedure for obtaining the prospectus:

¼i½ By Cash: For prescribed application form and detailed information etc., the prospectus can be obtained at the University Examination enquiry-cum-sale counter No. 1, Library building ¼Basement½ Summer Hill, Shimla-5 from 12-5-2009 to 1-6-2009 during working hours on payment of Rs. 1000/- for General & other categories and Rs. 500/- for SC/ ST categories only.

¼ii½ By post: The request for obtaining the prospectus by post can only be addressed to the Deputy Register ¼Entrance Test½ H.P University, Shimla-171005 accompanied by crossed IPOs/ Bank Draft amounting to Rs. 1100/- for General & other categories, and Rs. 600/- for SC/ ST categories drawn in favour of the Finance Officer, H.P University, Shimla-5. No request for obtaining the prospectus by post, the 19-5-2009. while applying for obtaining the prospectus by post, the candidate must write “Request for B. Sc. ¼Hons½ / M. Sc. Biotechnology prospectus -2009” and also mention complete mailing address in capital letters alongwith the telephone number.

Last date: The application forms, complete in all respect and duly placed in the prescribed envelope should reach in the office of Deputy Registrar ¼Entrance Tests½, Room No. 10, Ground Floor, Administrative Block, H.P University, Shimla-171005 latest by 1-6-2009 up to 5.00 p.m.
